    Tom Bird is the refugee and immigrant program case coordinator at the Advocates for Human Rights, where he has worked since 2020. He connects immigrants new to Minnesota and the Dakotas with free legal services for asylum and labor trafficking cases. Increasingly, his work serves unaccompanied child immigrants, building on a previous career in education. Tom holds a bachelor’s degree in global studies and Spanish and Portuguese studies from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and a master’s degree in global public policy from Central European University and the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals. Tom was born and raised in Minneapolis, where he currently lives and enjoys biking year-round.
